Gazarian’s Death Rocks the Case
Cisco tracks down Jeanine Ferrigno, who is lounging poolside with headphones on, blissfully unaware of the police activity surrounding the hotel. He breaks the news that Gazarian is dead and urges her to come with him.
As they leave, Jeanine spots Gazarian’s body and collapses in tears. Cisco gently guides her away.
Just like that, Mickey’s most important witness is gone.
The Prosecution’s “October Surprise”
Back in court, Berg unveils the prosecution’s bombshell witness: Lisa Trammell.
Mickey immediately recognizes what this is. The “October Surprise” they feared.
Lisa testifies that she once had a romantic relationship with Mickey that turned complicated when she was accused of murdering her abusive husband and Mickey became her attorney. She claims he defended her, then betrayed her by turning her in when she couldn’t pay his fees.
The accusation lands like a grenade in the courtroom.
Judge Stone adjourns for the evening, giving the defense time to regroup.
Ferrigno Becomes the New Hope
Cisco calls Mickey with grim news. Gazarian is dead, but he has Ferrigno.
Maggie acknowledges the stakes have just gotten worse. Without their key witness, the defense is hanging by a thread. Their strategy pivots to convincing Ferrigno to testify.
Meanwhile, Izzy presents a folder of letters Lisa wrote Mickey from jail. Lorna jokes they’re definitely not safe for work. The letters hint at obsession, anger, and retaliation, material Maggie plans to weaponize during cross examination.
Cross Examination Shifts Momentum
The next morning, Maggie dismantles Lisa’s testimony.
She reveals that Mickey sold the life rights Lisa granted him, earning enough to cover the fees she claims he demanded. Lisa insists she never knew about the deal.
Then Maggie produces one of Lisa’s own letters, which contains a threat against Mickey. The courtroom mood shifts instantly. Instead of a victim, Lisa now looks vindictive.
The prosecution’s star witness suddenly feels far less credible.
The FBI Thread Tightens
Attention turns to the FBI.
Drucker testifies about a traffic stop where Scales used the alias Kirk Lennon. Officer Roundtree confirms Lennon was detained on an FBI request and transferred to Agents Dana Ruth and Felix Vasquez.
When Mickey spots Agent Ruth quietly observing from the gallery, alarms go off. Izzy follows her outside and overhears a tense phone call about “a problem.”
Someone is hiding something.
Judge Stone soon signs a bench warrant compelling Ruth’s testimony.
The walls are closing in.
Lorna’s Ballistics Breakthrough
In her own courtroom, Lorna calls Dr. Arslanian, a ballistics expert. Using a video reconstruction, Arslanian demonstrates the shooting likely involved a Glock 19, standard issue for New York police.
She explains the victim’s lungs would have collapsed instantly, making the guard’s version of events impossible.
The testimony strongly suggests a cover up.
When the prosecutor offers a plea deal for voluntary manslaughter, Lorna doesn’t blink. She rejects it and counters with dropping the charges entirely and investigating the guard’s home.
Ferrigno Finally Talks
Cisco presses Ferrigno to testify. At first, she refuses.
Then fear breaks her resolve.
She confesses that Alex believed his Armenian family was coming for him. In desperation, he ordered Sam’s murder and tried to frame Mickey, killing two birds with one stone.
It’s the kind of revelation that could flip the entire case.
If they can prove it.
A Sudden Cliffhanger
As smaller victories mount, including Carter Gates’ emotional release from jail, the episode ends with a chilling twist.
Mickey asks Maggie about taking the stand. She agrees to discuss it later.
