Forest Whitaker
Transformative, empathetic, and unforgettable, Forest Whitaker is one of cinema’s great character actors, an artist who disappears so completely into his roles that you forget you’re watching a performance. He first captured attention with early turns in films like Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) and Bird (1988), the latter earning him Best Actor honors at Cannes for his soulful portrayal of jazz legend Charlie Parker.
Throughout his career, Whitaker has balanced prestige dramas with genre films, often imbuing even the smallest parts with dignity and gravitas. He is perhaps best known for his Oscar-winning performance as Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland (2006), a role that captured both charisma and terrifying menace.
Whitaker has also delivered quieter, deeply moving performances in films such as The Crying Game (1992) and The Butler (2013), while also branching out into blockbusters like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) and Black Panther (2018). His versatility and humanity make him one of the most respected and admired actors of his generation.
