Lanterns Season 1 Episode 7 Preview enters the season’s final stretch with “The Jordan Boys Legacy,” as John Stewart’s investigation into Hal Jordan’s murder forces him to confront the one witness capable of explaining what happened: Hal Jordan himself.
After spending much of the season uncovering what Hal kept hidden, John may finally be in a position to discover why those secrets mattered. But if Lanterns has established anything during its first six episodes, it is that learning the truth about Hal Jordan rarely makes him easier to understand.

John Stewart Finally Has Hal Jordan Where He Wants Him
“Bad Optics” ended with one of the season’s strangest reversals. Ten years after refusing Hal’s ring, John dug up his former mentor’s grave, removed it from Hal’s finger and discovered enough power remained to manifest an avatar of the dead Green Lantern.
For most of Lanterns, Hal has controlled how much John knows. He trained him, withheld information about Rushville, interfered with his military career and spent years carrying secrets about the Green Lantern Corps and the investigation that changed both of their lives.
Death changes that balance.
Lanterns Season 1 Episode 7 Preview now finds John holding the ring and asking the questions. Hal may finally have to provide the answers.
But the episode title suggests those answers could reach further into Hal’s history than John expects.
“The Jordan Boys Legacy” Makes the Mystery Personal
Throughout the season, Lanterns has steadily dismantled the legend of Hal Jordan. The fearless Green Lantern introduced as John’s mentor has gradually become something more complicated: a man carrying guilt, protecting secrets and making decisions that continue affecting people long after he leaves.
“The Jordan Boys Legacy” appears poised to dig beneath the Green Lantern mythology and into the Jordan name itself.
That distinction matters. John has spent years trying to understand Hal Jordan the Green Lantern, but Episode 7 may require him to understand Hal Jordan the man.
Family and inheritance have already become central themes for John. “Outkast” revealed how deeply his parents shaped the future they imagined for him, while the Green Lantern ring represents another inheritance John never completely chose for himself. Hal’s history could provide a darker reflection of the same idea.
What do sons inherit from the men who came before them?
And how much of Hal Jordan’s life was shaped before a Green Lantern ring ever found him?
The Ring Has Become a Witness
John’s decision to take Hal’s ring also changes the investigation itself.
Until now, he has been reconstructing the past through crime scenes, memories, testimony and the secrets other people are willing to reveal. The ring potentially gives him access to something much more dangerous: Hal’s version of events.
That doesn’t necessarily make it the truth.
Hal has spent the entire season manipulating information, protecting people and deciding what John should know. Even as an avatar, there is no guarantee that the Hal standing before John will suddenly become an open book.
That uncertainty gives Lanterns Season 1 Episode 7 Preview its most intriguing possibility. John may finally have the witness he needs, but interrogating Hal could prove more difficult than solving his murder.
John Is Becoming Green Lantern on His Own Terms
There is another transformation happening beneath the murder mystery.
John Stewart finally put on the ring.
Not because the Guardians ordered him to. Not because Hal selected him. Not because his parents spent his childhood preparing him for some larger destiny.
John chose it.
That difference may become crucial as Lanterns approaches its finale. For years, John resisted the idea that becoming Green Lantern meant accepting somebody else’s plan for his life. By using Hal’s ring to continue the investigation, he begins redefining what the symbol means for himself.
The question facing him now isn’t simply whether he will become Green Lantern.
It’s what kind of Green Lantern he intends to become.
Lanterns Season 1 Episode 7 Preview: The Past Isn’t Finished With John
“The Jordan Boys Legacy” arrives with nearly every thread of the season converging around Hal Jordan.
His murder remains unsolved. His relationship with John remains unfinished. His secrets continue reaching from 2016 into the present, and the ring John once rejected is finally on his hand.
The title suggests that the next answers may lie not with the Green Lantern Corps, but with the family and history behind the man who wore its ring.
For John Stewart, that could make Episode 7 more than another step toward identifying Hal’s killer. It could finally reveal why Hal made the choices that shaped John’s life, why he returned to Rushville seeking forgiveness and what he knew before someone put a bullet in his head.
Lanterns Season 1 Episode 7 Preview therefore brings the season toward its end by returning to the relationship at its beginning.
John Stewart spent ten years trying to escape Hal Jordan’s shadow.
Now solving Hal’s murder may require him to walk directly into it.
