Frances Recognizes the Man From Her Past

The episode opens inside another of Neagley’s childhood memories.

Young Frances approaches a bookmobile, where a man offers her the latest edition of Bernadette Bunny and invites her inside.

Another man intervenes.

He reminds Frances that her father is coming for her, and she walks away.

Adult Neagley recognizes him.

He’s the same man she remembers her father stabbing to death.

Whatever happened during Frances’ childhood, the memory is becoming clearer.

But the complete truth remains buried.

Neagley Sends Woodrow a Message

Neagley wakes in Hudson’s car while they watch Woodrow from a distance.

Woodrow, meanwhile, wakes somewhere considerably less comfortable.

He’s sitting alone in a chair in the middle of a field.

His car is nearby.

A card falls from his lap.

“I can get to you too and now your boss knows.”

Neagley has flipped their psychological game.

Woodrow’s people invaded her home and her memories.

Now she wants him wondering when she’ll strike again.

The Neagley Season 1 Episode 6 Recap puts Woodrow in an unfamiliar position.

He’s scared.

Kino Refuses to Leave Mandy

Renee meets Kino at the farmers market and tries to extract him from Echo Canyon.

He refuses.

He’s not leaving without Mandy.

Fortunately, Renee has discovered another way into the underground silo.

An access vent provides Kino with a route directly into the facility.

He decides to go back for her.

It’s an enormous risk, but Kino believes Mandy is still someone who needs rescuing.

Neagley Promises to Find Jerry

At the office, Nora York tells Neagley that Jerry has been missing for days.

Before disappearing, Jerry told his wife that if anything ever happened to him, she should find Frances.

She was the best investigator in the office.

Neagley promises to shut down their normal operations and put everyone on finding him.

She may already believe Jerry is dead.

But until she knows for certain, she’s going to find him.

Tranqlara Finally Works

At Echo Canyon, Judith watches another patient undergo treatment.

The patient awakens at the 29-minute mark.

Instead of displaying the devastating effects seen in previous subjects, he feels incredible.

Judith immediately makes a call.

After four years of failed experiments, they may finally have what Woodrow needs.

Tranqlara works.

But Judith has another agenda.

She’s tired of Lawrence.

Neagley Finds Another Murder

Neagley and Hudson visit the mother of a woman who wrote an article exposing the pharmaceutical company.

Her mother tells them what happened afterward.

The company killed her daughter.

She was burned to death.

At the remains of the woman’s home, Neagley discovers an old metal air-conditioning vent.

Inside is a hidden box containing information the woman apparently wanted preserved.

The Neagley Season 1 Episode 6 Recap gives Frances another piece of evidence linking Woodrow’s operation to murder.

And this victim knew enough to hide something before she died.

Kino Goes Beneath Echo Canyon

Kino enters the access vent and crawls into the underground silo.

This time, he’s prepared.

He photographs everything he can.

Unfortunately, the thick concrete walls make sending those pictures to Renee nearly impossible.

Kino eventually reaches Mandy and tells her to meet him down the hall so they can escape.

She agrees.

Before continuing, he contacts Renee and tells her his battery is dying.

He’s turning off the phone.

He’ll call when they’re safe.

That’s the plan, anyway.

Judith Makes Her Move

Judith calls Woodrow with the news he’s been waiting for.

The drug works.

Then she makes her pitch.

Lawrence has become unreliable. Judith believes she can run Echo Canyon more effectively and wants his position.

Woodrow agrees.

Judith is ecstatic.

She’s finally getting what she wants.

Unfortunately for Judith, Lawrence is already several moves ahead.

Woodrow Sends More Muscle

As Neagley and Hudson leave the burned-out house, several men armed with bats arrive.

Neagley gives them an opportunity to reconsider.

They don’t take it.

Bad decision.

Neagley and Hudson quickly dispatch the group.

When Neagley asks who hired them, one of the men gives her the answer she expected.

Woodrow.

The Neagley Season 1 Episode 6 Recap now eliminates any remaining ambiguity about Woodrow’s willingness to kill anyone threatening his operation.

Hudson Finds His Father’s Boat

Inside the evidence recovered from the burned house, Hudson notices something unexpected.

A photograph.

It shows his father’s boat.

Hudson doesn’t understand how his father could possibly be connected to Woodrow, Echo Canyon or Tranqlara.

Neagley sees only one way forward.

They’re going to ask him.

The investigation has just become personal for Hudson too.

Lawrence Stones Judith to Death

Woodrow arrives at Echo Canyon during another Community gathering.

Lawrence speaks about betrayal.

Then Judith is brought before the group.

She’s gagged.

Bound to a wheelchair.

Lawrence turns toward several men and declares them sinless.

Then he reveals a wheelbarrow filled with stones.

The men begin throwing them.

Woodrow watches in horror as Judith is stoned to death.

The woman who believed she was about to replace Lawrence never realized he already knew she had betrayed him.

Even Woodrow seems shaken by what Lawrence has become.

Mandy Betrays Kino

Kino turns a corner expecting to find Mandy ready to escape.

She’s there.

But she isn’t alone.

Lawrence is standing beside her.

Two men seize Kino.

He immediately understands what happened.

Mandy gave him up.

Knowing he may never get another opportunity, Kino drops his phone down a stairwell, destroying it before Lawrence’s people can recover the information stored on it.

Lawrence turns toward Mandy.

He congratulates her.

She protected her family.

Neagley Season 1 Episode 6 Ending Explained

The ending of the Neagley Season 1 Episode 6 Recap changes the stakes inside Echo Canyon.

Kino believed Mandy was another victim.

Mandy believes Echo Canyon is her family.

That distinction may have doomed him.

Lawrence’s murder of Judith also demonstrates that his grip on the Community is stronger than Woodrow realized. Woodrow may finance the operation, but inside Echo Canyon, Lawrence controls the people.

And Tranqlara has apparently achieved its first successful result.

That means Woodrow’s four-year experiment may finally be ready to move beyond Echo Canyon.

The Bottom Line

Neagley Season 1 Episode 6 Recap brings several of the season’s mysteries closer to collision.

Frances’ childhood memories now contain a recognizable figure connected to her father’s violent act. Hudson discovers that his own father may somehow intersect with the conspiracy. Tranqlara finally appears successful, giving Woodrow the breakthrough he’s desperately needed.

But “Rocked” belongs primarily to Echo Canyon.

Judith attempts to overthrow Lawrence and pays with her life.

Kino risks his life to rescue Mandy and discovers that she doesn’t want rescuing.

For the first time, Woodrow also appears to understand something Neagley and Kino have been learning all season:

Lawrence Cole isn’t simply the public face of Echo Canyon.

He’s dangerous.

And now he has Kino.

Neagley Season 1 is streaming on Prime Video.
