Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the gang return to the small screen with a new musical adventure at their favorite camp in Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical.
One morning, the Peanuts gang learns that their beloved camp, Cloverhill Ranch, is shutting down because fewer campers are joining each summer. The news especially saddens Charlie Brown, who feels hopeless about losing a place that has meant so much to him and his friends. Meanwhile, on their adventure, Snoopy and Woodstock find a treasure chest. Newly inspired, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang use the treasure to host their own concert to save the camp.
The special is written by Craig Schulz, son of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz, along with Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano.  The special features the voice talents of Etienne Kellici, Terry McGurrin and Jay Deroche. The show is directed by Eric Wiese (Dawn of the Croods, Sonic Prime).
Featuring five new songs, two by the team of Jeff Morrow, Alan Zachary, and Michael Weiner, and three by Ben Folds, Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical is the first Peanuts musical in over 30 years. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the Peanuts gang. Â Craig Schulz stated that the musical aims to capture the nostalgia of Peanuts while also exploring new territory.
At the heart is Sally Brown, a reluctant first-time camper whose skepticism drives both comic and emotional beats. Her journey, from complaining about being away from air-conditioning and TV to fighting for the camp’s future, is a testament to younger viewers about confronting change and overcoming personal boundaries. The sibling dynamic between Sally and Charlie Brown is touching, highlighted by scenes of quiet support and gentle encouragement
The animation style hits a sweet spot between retro vibes and modern freshness, successfully channeling the spirit of classic Peanuts specials from the ’60s and ’70s. The color palette and gentle details, like sunlight bouncing off Charlie Brown’s head, evoke a sense of innocence, which complements the story’s focus on childhood milestones and traditions.
Warning: the new voice for Charlie Brown may not capture perfect familiarity. In fact, it is clear that there are three voices used for him but, the broader character group feels lovingly rendered, preserving Schulz’s iconic personality.
Rated TV-Y, Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical is a gentle, heartwarming ode to childhood, summer camp, and the Peanuts tradition. Its combination of light comedy, comforting visuals, and earnest musical storytelling will charm younger viewers and coax nostalgia from grown-ups. By the time Sally sings her goodbye, the special leaves viewers better than it found them—a testament to the enduring appeal and emotional wisdom of Schulz’s world.
Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on August 15, 2025.
