FilmGordon Media Group is a multifaceted, Black-owned media enterprise dedicated to celebrating, critiquing, and cultivating excellence in film and visual storytelling. As the parent organization of both TheFilmGordon (LLC) and the Foundation for the Advancement of African-Americans in Film (FAAAF, 501(c)(3)), FilmGordon Media Group operates at the intersection of entertainment journalism, cultural advocacy, and creative development.
TheFilmGordon (LLC)
The for-profit division, TheFilmGordon, is a leading entertainment media platform founded by award-winning critic and media executive Tim Gordon. Through its flagship website, TheFilmGordon.com, and its multimedia properties, including the long-running Keeping It Reel with FilmGordon podcast, the company delivers insightful criticism, film news, and industry analysis from a culturally grounded, unapologetically Black perspective.
TheFilmGordon also produces digital content, red-carpet coverage, and branded media partnerships that amplify diverse cinematic voices and engage audiences through authentic storytelling.
FAAAF (501(c)(3) Nonprofit)
The Foundation for the Advancement of African-Americans in Film (FAAAF) serves as the nonprofit arm of FilmGordon Media Group, focused on education, mentorship, and advocacy. Its mission is to identify, inspire, and prepare the next generation of African-American filmmakers and storytellers, creating pathways for success across the entertainment industry.
FAAAF is the proud producer of the Black Reel Awards, one of the nation’s premier honors recognizing outstanding achievements of African-Americans and people of African descent in film and television. Established in 2000, the Black Reel Awards celebrate artistic excellence, elevate visibility for underrepresented creators, and preserve the legacy of Black storytelling in cinema.
In addition to the awards, FAAAF hosts the LightReel Film Festival and other cultural initiatives that connect artists, audiences, and industry leaders to advance the craft and impact of Black film.
