Belief has never been the finish line at AFC Richmond. It is what gets you moving.

That became increasingly clear in “Yes & Baby,” as Alice Chilton finally discovered how to incorporate Ted’s philosophy without sacrificing her own identity as a coach. Ted introduced her to the improvisational principle of “yes, and,” and Alice eventually applied the lesson to Richmond’s most sacred symbol. The BELIEVE sign moved into the Lady Greyhounds’ locker room, where she added two words of her own:

AND WIN.

That small addition could loom large in Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 8, “Follow the Anger,” as a team that has spent much of the season learning how to believe now has to decide what it wants to do with that belief.

The Lady Greyhounds Have Plenty to Be Angry About

“Follow the Anger” is an intriguing title because frustration is already everywhere inside Richmond.

The opening montage of “Yes & Baby” reminded us that the Lady Greyhounds aren’t simply trying to become professional footballers. They’re balancing family responsibilities, rising rent, unreliable transportation, second jobs, relationships, and career opportunities outside the game. Gemma, in particular, faces a decision between continuing to pursue football and following a potentially more secure professional path.

Those pressures don’t disappear when the whistle blows, which gives Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 8 Preview a larger question than whether Richmond can win its next match.

Alice may be uniquely equipped to understand that. Her problem has never been a lack of intensity. If anything, she has had too much of it. What Ted has gradually taught her is how to channel that intensity without allowing it to push everyone else away.

Now that Alice is beginning to connect with the players, “Follow the Anger” could test whether she can turn their frustrations into something productive.

Richmond Is Changing Around Ted

The rest of Richmond isn’t exactly standing still, and Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 8 Preview finds several unresolved relationships waiting just beyond the Lady Greyhounds’ story.

Zelda has gone from Rebecca’s unpredictable acquaintance to the club’s new Special Advisor, immediately demonstrating an unconventional approach to dealing with Roy’s difficult agent. Roy, meanwhile, received a considerably more personal diagnosis from Erin. His knee can be repaired, but his heart remains another matter entirely.

He’s still in love with Keeley.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 8 Preview also finds Ted confronting his own romantic future. After Keeley helped him create a Bantr profile, he arrived at perhaps the most important three words he has written all season:

I Am Lovable.

Ted deleted the profile and asked out the woman he met backstage at the theater, only to learn that she had recently started seeing someone. The answer wasn’t what he wanted, but asking the question was still progress.

That matters heading into Episode 8 because “Yes & Baby” wasn’t about getting what you wanted. It was about deciding what comes after you don’t.

What to Watch in Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 8

“Follow the Anger” arrives with the Lady Greyhounds finally beginning to establish an identity of their own. Ted has given them belief. Alice has added expectation. The next challenge may be learning how to use the frustrations that come with wanting something badly enough to be disappointed when it doesn’t happen.

That idea extends beyond the pitch. Roy and Keeley still have feelings neither has successfully resolved. Gemma must determine what football is worth sacrificing. Ted has discovered that believing he is lovable doesn’t guarantee someone will say yes.

Anger can become resentment, or it can become fuel.

After seven episodes spent teaching the Lady Greyhounds how to become a team, Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 8 Preview points toward “Follow the Anger” as the moment Richmond may discover just how badly this team wants to win.
