The new teaser trailer and images for the upcoming romantic musical comedy-drama, La La Land has been released. Damien Chazelle’s follow-up to his directorial debut, Whiplash, is set for its premiere at next week’s Venice Film Festival.
Written and directed by Oscar nominee Chazelle, La La Land tells the story of Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.
The two meet and fall in love, but, as success mounts, the dreams they worked so hard to maintain threaten to rip them apart.
La La Land, co-stars the ever-busy John Legend, who recently announced that his production company, Get Lifted is producing the upcoming Southside With You and the developing the drama series, Black Wall Street for WGN America. Rosemarie DeWitt, Finn Wittrock, Callie Hernandez, Sonoya Mizuno, Jessica Rothe, Tom Everett Scott and Josh Pence round the cast of La La Land.
La La Land opens in theaters on December 16, 2016.
