The Top Five Sexiest Scenes

In a year filled with plenty of quality films and performances, it is no accident that some also had love on their minds. In multiplexes coast-to-coast, temperatures were rising as several films invited film audiences to bask in their cinematic ecstasy.

From the conventional to the strange and highly imaginative, the end result were some provocative scenes that made me blush, in this collection of “newspaper films.” Here are the Top Five Sexiest Scenes of 2013.

5. Her
Joaquin Phoenix’s Has Hot Sex with Samantha, his Operating System
In a scene that could have been absurd in the hands of a lesser director, Spike Jonze’s futuristic love story of man (Phoenix) and machine (Scarlett Johansson) reaches its (no pun intended) climax!

4. Trance
A Nude Rosario Dawson Seduces James McAvoy
This story of a group of cons and a hypnotherapist who must unlock the secret in an art auctioneer’s mind, took a deliciously erotic turn when Dawson grabbed a pair of hair clippers, went into the bathroom and came out totally nude, from her head to her glorious feet. McAvoy AND the audience looked stunned . . . and that’s not a bad thing!

3. The Counselor
Cameron Diaz Demonstrates Her Amazing Flexibility
From the opening scene where the sexy Malkina (Diaz) watches her pet leopards running across the plains and later reveals her paw print tattoos, you have the feeling that there is an air of unpredictability about her character that would surface at some point in the story. One of the year’s most-discussed sequences takes place later when she drives a befuddled Javier Bardem to a secluded spot, removes her undergarments and proceeds to straddle the glass of her car much to the amazement of Bardem – and the audience!

2. Kiss of the Damned
Josephine de La Baume and Milo Ventimiglia Make Hot Steamy Vampire/Human Love
Early in Xan Cassavetes’ story we meet the shy and seductive vampire, Djuna (de La Baume) who instantly has eyes for a screenwriter, Paolo (Ventimiglia). After explaining why they can’t be together, she offers a demonstration as she chains herself to the bed prior to her transformation. Proving that he would do ANYTHING for love, Paolo is unfazed and unchains the vampire that proceeds to bite him before making some steamy beasts with two backs with the undead. While the scene makes no common sense, it IS highly erotic and physically effective!

1. Blue is the Warmest Color
Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux Explore Every Orfice of Each Other
This love story between an inquisitive high school student and her lesbian college lover featured one of the year’s most controversial scenes when director Abdellatif Kechiche had Exarchopoulos and Seydoux engage in a ten-minute explicit sex scene that almost felt like watching a porn sequence in a mainstream film. If that wasn’t enough, there are two more shorter sequences that also leave nothing to the imagination. While some audience members were sufficiently titillated, both of the stars later revealed that there were quite upset with Kechiche’s technique during the filming of the love scenes. This definitely a movie that plays better in the privacy of one’s home versus the big screen!
