Man in suit listens to music on headphones in city at night.

by Tim Gordon

Spike Lee’s latest joint is soaked in prestige and pedigree.

Leading the charge is two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington, joined by Oscar nominee Jeffrey Wright and rapper-turned-actor A$AP Rocky in a dramatic supporting turn. High & Low is a bold, contemporary reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime classic, now reset in the high-stakes world of the modern music industry.

Washington plays a towering music mogul whose world unravels when his son becomes the target of a ransom plot. As the moral dilemma deepens, he’s forced to confront the true cost of power, legacy, and sacrifice.

This trailer feels like a reverent nod to Kurosawa’s original, brooding, stylish, and packed with tension. But make no mistake, Lee’s version brings a fresh urgency, blending themes of class division, race, and family with his signature cinematic flair.
