Over the past several years, we’ve seen the stories, been infuriated by the images and rallied and protested for justice in their names. The name, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Freddy Gray, Sandra Bland and Jordan Davis, mean that they all belong to an exclusive club that nobody wants to be a member.
One of these stories will be on full display on the upcoming documentary, 3 1/2 Minutes, 10 Bullets. The documentary details the horrific account that took Jordan Davis’ life. The story is emotionally raw, unsettling and ultimately heartbreaking tale of two parents desperately seeking justice for their child.
In 2012 on Black Friday, Jordan Davis was in a parking lot with two friends waiting for a third to come out of a gas station. The boys were relaxing in the car, blasting their music, and enjoying the early evening in Jacksonville, Florida. A white man named Michael Dunn decided that their music was too loud for him. Words were said, and 3 1/2 minutes later, Jordan Davis was dead.
We suggest that you gather family and friends to watch this film together and hopefully, have a post-film discussion.
3 1/2 Minutes, 10 Bullets will air Monday, November 23rd at 9PM ET on HBO. Check out the trailer, below:
