Reel Reviews | Players

A group of elegantly dressed people enjoying drinks at a formal event.

by Tim Gordon

New York sportswriter Mack devises successful hookup techniques with friend Adam and their crew, but when she unexpectedly falls head over heels for one of her targets, they all must learn what it takes to go from simply scoring to playing for keeps in the romantic comedy, Players.

Directed by Trish Sie, written by Whit Anderson, and produced by Ross M. Dinerstein, Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, and Ryan Christians, Players stars Gina Rodriguez, Damon Wayans Jr., and Tom Ellis.

Despite the familiarity of the film’s story, Rodriquez and Wayans shine and are primarily the main reasons to watch this formulaic story.

Players is streaming on Netflix now.
