Love him or hate him, one thing is certain: Tyler Perry’s films make money. Apparently, that doesn’t extend to his brand. His latest production, the Tina Gordon Chism comedy, Peeples tanked at the box office this weekend.
Despite a budget of $15 million and the star power of Kerry Washington, Peeples debuted with a very disappointing $4.9 million. This is very rare territory for Perry who has had nine of his film open with a minimum of $20 million.
The failure of the film from his 34th Street shingle, shows the fallibility of Perry as a producer, at least.
