Netflix continues their content-creating binge with the announcement of the new film, Naked. The romantic comedy stars Marlon Wayans and Regina Hall.
A remake of the 2000 Swedish film, Naken, the premise is Groundhog Day, minus clothes. Wayans stars as Rob Anderson, a charming man-child who wakes up on his wedding day, naked in an elevator. He relives the hour before the ceremony over and over again.
The film reunites Wayans with director Michael Tiddes, who directed him in A Haunted House and most recently Fifty Shades of Black. Cory Koller, Wayans and Rick Alvarez wrote the script.
“The response I’ve gotten from fans worldwide to my films on Netflix has been overwhelming, and I’m thrilled to be working with them on an original film,” Wayans said in a statement. “Also, I’m excited to be working with Regina again.”
Wayans, Alvarez, Todd Garner (who worked with Wayans on both White Chicks and Little Man), and Ryan Lewis will produce the film.
Netflix has set the film to start production next month in Charleston, SC, to premiere globally on the streaming site in 2017.
