The explosive teaser trailer for the upcoming comic superhero film, Black Panther debuted during Game Four of the NBA finals. To say that fans were ecstatic would be an understatement as the first images finally emerge from the highly-anticipated Marvel story.
Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, Black Panther centers on the events that take place after Captain America: Civil War. King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns home to Wakanda but soon finds his sovereignty challenged by factions within his own country. When two enemies conspire to bring down the kingdom, T’Challa must team up, as the Black Panther, with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje—Wakanda’s special forces—to prevent a world war.
This story has been kicking around Hollywood since 1992 when Wesley Snipes announced his intentions to make Black Panther. After trying for a dozen years to bring the project to fruition, Snipes was told that the popularity of his Blade character would make it difficult for the public to see him as another Marvel character. In 2005, Marvel announced the film as a part of their Marvel Cinematic Universe.
is the eighteenth film installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler from a screenplay by himself and Joe Robert Cole, and stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa / Black Panther, alongside Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
