Betrayals, Power Shifts, and a Ruthless Endgame
In Episode 6 of The Night Manager, betrayals erupt on every front as Pine, Teddy, and Roper collide in a brutal endgame where loyalty shatters, power shifts, and survival leaves no one untouched.
Roper opens the episode by briefing Teddy on the day’s plan, unaware that Teddy is already maneuvering between enemies. While pretending to call one of the Cabreras’ men, Teddy secretly phones Pine to pass along critical details. Pine warns him to stay sharp. Moments later, Teddy reassures Roper that everything is ready. As Teddy exits the compound, Pine tests the waters by calling Roper directly, probing whether either man is willing to accept the other’s deal. Neither budges, but both prepare for an inevitable showdown.
Pine Reroutes as the Trap Closes In
Pine informs Sally that he intends to divert the plane to a nearby airstrip, allowing an international coalition to intercept the shipment. As Pine and Martin head out, a frantic call from Roxana changes everything. She claims they have been discovered and is calling from a bus station, terrified and begging for help. Pine immediately reroutes.
Meanwhile, Teddy travels with Juan to meet the Cabreras. Pressed about Roper’s cryptic comment at breakfast, Juan reveals the trap has already been set for Pine and that Roxana returned to negotiate her own protection.
Pine and Martin arrive at the bus station just as Roxana steps off the bus. Before Pine can reach her, Teddy calls again, pretending to phone General Cabreras. His warning is cryptic but urgent. Roxana then calls Pine and asks which car he is in. Pine sends her to a decoy vehicle, which is immediately riddled with bullets as Roper watches via video feed. The car is empty. Pine quietly says goodbye to Roxana and disappears.
Teddy Crosses the Point of No Return
When word reaches Juan that Pine escaped, suspicion falls instantly on Teddy. Juan demands Teddy’s phone. Teddy responds by shooting Juan dead. Pine arrives moments later, and together they dispose of the body over a cliff. Pine urges Teddy to walk away from this life, but Teddy refuses. As long as Roper lives, he says, escape is impossible.
Back at Roper’s estate, Roxana convinces him she was not manipulated by Pine. Roper concludes that someone else, likely Teddy, warned him.
The Long Con at the Cabreras’ Stronghold
Teddy arrives at the Cabreras’ base with a bound “Matthew Ellis,” who is actually Pine. He spins a story that Ellis and Roper betrayed them and murdered Juan, even playing a doctored recording to frame Roper for an impending massacre. As Pine is dragged off for interrogation, he notices child soldiers preparing for battle.
Under brutal questioning, Pine pretends to break. The Cabreras find identification for “Andrew Birch,” and Pine confesses that he is British intelligence working with Roper to deploy troops into Colombia and wipe out the militia. Convinced, Cabreras storms off to halt the incoming plane.
Power Shifts and Deadly Consequences
Elsewhere, Sally rescues the Supreme Court Minister and hides her. When she calls Basil, Angela answers, revealing Basil is no longer available. Angela confronts Langbourne with video evidence linking him to Mayra and the coup, forcing him to expose Mayra’s connection to Roper. Angela then corners Mayra, threatening exposure unless she betrays Roper and surrenders the shipment.
Roper later meets with Roxana and delivers a chilling farewell. He tells her he is shedding his skin. Nothing and no one is sacred.
At the drop site, Teddy secretly redirects the plane to a military airfield in San Marcos, masking the change so Roper will not suspect anything. Teddy apologizes for the “Matthew Ellis” issue, earning Roper’s trust as they head out together.
Cabreras presents Pine to Roper, declaring him captured. Teddy echoes Roper’s professed love for Danny before pressing a gun to Roper’s forehead. The moment is interrupted when Roper’s phone rings. The plane has already made its drop.
At the alternate coordinates, Sally and the Supreme Court Minister await as a second crate is released. Cabreras opens his box to find the EMP device. Sally opens hers to find only a single red rose. Mayra smiles and walks away, having outplayed everyone.
A Ruthless Finale
Roper reasserts control. He embraces Teddy, forgives him, and then executes him with a single shot to the head. Turning his gun on Pine, Roper is interrupted when Martin opens fire. Pine is wounded but escapes with Martin and Timo. During a high-speed chase, Pine and Timo leap from the car, leaving Martin behind as gunfire echoes through the valley.
Meanwhile, Angela records a voicemail as her dog barks outside. Her daughter investigates and finds Angela dead in the yard, shot in the chest. Far away, Pine collapses from his wound.
In the final moments, Roper arrives at Danny’s boarding home, embraces the boy, and tells him he has a new home now. As they drive away, news reports detail a catastrophic blackout and coup in Colombia, with six hundred people reported dead.
