The Drop Season 1 Episode 4 Preview: The Big Push
Lamar got the record he wanted in “Family Matters,” but getting people to believe in the music may only be the beginning.
His new track with Artillery proved that his creative instincts were right. Wanda discovered that recognizing talent and managing it are two very different responsibilities. James’ attempt to protect his younger brother pulled him further away from the second chance he imagined for himself. For a moment, everyone appeared to be moving toward something better.
Now they have to decide how much they’re willing to risk to get there.

Wanda Finally Has Something to Lose
Wanda entered the music business believing talent could create opportunity.
“Family Matters” showed her that opportunity comes with expectations.
Lamar wanted the new record because he believed it was better. Wanda understood that the label had already invested money and resources into “Ridah.” Their disagreement wasn’t really about whether Lamar had talent. It was about who gets to decide what happens once that talent becomes somebody else’s business.
But The Drop Season 1 Episode 4 Preview appears ready to change that equation.
If problems with the label force Wanda, Lamar and Artillery to gamble on their new record, Wanda may finally have to choose between working within the system she’s been trying to enter and trusting the instincts that got her there.
That’s a considerably different risk than discovering an artist.
Wanda wanted a seat at the table. “The Big Push” could force her to decide what she’s willing to put on that table now that she finally has something worth losing.
James Can’t Escape the Family He’s Trying to Rebuild
James came home wanting another chance.
Big Daddy complicated that future in “Family Matters” when he asked James to take responsibility for Lamar. James wanted the laundromat and the stability it represented. His father reminded him that Lamar was still alive and that protecting his younger brother might matter more than the future James had planned for himself.
Now The Drop Season 1 Episode 4 Preview suggests that responsibility is about to lead James somewhere even more personal.
His efforts to get through to Big Daddy and Gerty threaten to open deeper family wounds, suggesting that the tension surrounding Lamar isn’t simply about a young man chasing a music career his family doesn’t understand.
Something else is underneath it.
James may understand more about danger than Lamar because he’s already paid for his own choices. What remains unclear is how much of the Kinsey family’s history has shaped those choices—or why Big Daddy seems so determined to make James responsible for preventing Lamar from repeating them.
“The Big Push” could begin answering those questions.

What to Watch in The Drop Season 1 Episode 4
“The Big Push” arrives with Wanda and Lamar finally facing the same problem from the same side. The music they believe in now needs somewhere to go, and complications with the label could force them to create their own path forward.
But every step Wanda takes deeper into the music business seems to pull another piece of the family along with her.
Lamar wants his music heard. Wanda wants to turn that talent into something sustainable. James is being asked to protect a brother who doesn’t believe he needs protecting, while Big Daddy and Gerty appear to be carrying family history neither son has completely confronted.
That makes the title especially appropriate. Everybody is pushing toward something—Wanda toward a career, Lamar toward artistic freedom and James toward a second chance—but those ambitions are beginning to collide.
Snowfall spent six seasons showing how quickly ambition could transform into something capable of controlling the people who believed they were controlling it.
Now The Drop Season 1 Episode 4 Preview points toward “The Big Push” as the moment Wanda, Lamar and James may discover that getting what you want is only the beginning.
The bigger question is what you’re willing to risk to keep it.
