The powerhouse writer-director has completed the script for the long-rumored third installment of his hit franchise, teasing fans with a sneak peek of the cover page for Why Did I Get Married Again?
On Wednesday, Perry posted the script’s “table draft†cover page with the caption: “I’m just gonna sit this right here!†He also tagged the original cast — Tasha Smith, Sharon Leal, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker, Jill Scott, and Janet Jackson — instantly sparking speculation about a long-awaited reunion.
It’s been 15 years since 2010’s Why Did I Get Married Too?, and for much of that time, Perry seemed uncertain about revisiting the series. As recently as last December, he told Sherri Shepherd, “I don’t think so. I want to, but it’s a lot of logistics to try to get it together, so hopefully we can pull it together, but we’ll see … Everybody’s got things going on, so timing would have to fall in place and then everything else would have to fall in place.â€
Now, with a script in hand and the cast tagged, one question remains: Are we finally heading back to the couples’ table?
