The Disney film showcases the life of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan chess prodigy from Katwe who becomes a Woman Candidate Master after her performances at World Chess Olympiads.
Directed by Mira Nair from a screenplay by William Wheeler, the film stars David Oyelowo, Lupita Nyong’o, and Madina Nalwanga.
Queen of Katwe opens in theaters on September 23, 2016.
