What exactly is Ghost’s plan? Anyone?
We probably heard the word plan at least five times on Power Season 2 Episode 7, but it looks like Ghost is keeping the details of his operation to himself. But with so many people directly (or indirectly) involved, it’s going to get increasingly harder for him to be so guarded.
Things almost collapsed for him after Tommy went on another one of his downward spirals, but alas Tasha came to the rescue and all was right again. Or was it?
With Holly gone, it was clear that Tommy was going to have a bit of a breakdown because the guy doesn’t have the faintest idea how to handle his emotions. It was completely in character for him to give in to his paranoia and make a hasty decision, like moving all the money from the laundry mats.
It seemed like a rather stupid idea at first, but then I remembered the one thing you can’t forget about Tommy (even when he’s acting like a child); never underestimate him. There was no way he’d be dumb enough to be riding with the money, so when the cops pulled them over, there was no real reason to worry.
However, the fact that the cops were tailing him and asking Holly questions, led him to the realization that Angela was even closer than he realized. And that’s when things got a little nutty.
I trust you. It’s her I don’t trust. She’s the problem, G. You’ve been fucking her this whole time, telling her you’re going to leave Tasha. Well, you did. You left Tasha and she’s still coming after us. Don’t you get it? When you gonna realize you ain’t in control of the situation no more. No plan of yours is going to stop until she gets what she fucking wants.
Luckily, Ghost was able to convince Tasha to talk Tommy down, which she did expertly. Tasha had an interesting role this week, as she continued to show how smart she can be, while also exhibiting that ruthless part of her herself she keeps hidden at times.
The comment section has been a lightning rod for conversations about Tasha vs. Angela. I’ve been on record as saying that I am Team Angela, partly because I see that there is a real love between her and Ghost, but also because it’s always seemed like Ghost and Tasha have completely disconnected from one another emotionally.
Obviously there was a time when they were in love and there still is love there, but I think Ghost checked out of that marriage a long time ago. Multiple times in the first season, Tasha and Tommy noted the changes they saw in Ghost. Those changes were not only due to Angela, but also due to his desire to lead a different life. As he pursued this new life, he drifted further and further away from his wife.
Tasha as a character can be grating at times, but I’ve always admired her spunk and loyalty. And doesn’t she deserve better than the way Ghost has treated her?
Personally, I’ve never felt much of anything towards Shawn. Sure he’s stop traffic hot, but I feel like we don’t really know him. All we do know is he loves Tasha, and pretty soon he’s going to have to make a choice between protecting his father and protecting his woman.
Elsewhere, Holly Monica is alive and well and vowing to be over Tommy. There’s no way Angela actually bought that little routine she put on in the hotel room. Angela may be a lot of things, but she is not that dumb, as evidenced by her cloning Ghost’s phone. That’s pretty slick, except there is no way the biggest drug distributor in New York City has one cell phone. Right?
