by Charles Kirkland, Jr.

The war rages on all fronts in the fourth episode of Mayor of Kingstown, Sins of Omission.

Ian wakes Mike in the early morning to report the discovery of the cartel hit victims. Mike answers the call while still in bed with Cindy. When he arrives at the crime scene, he tells Ian about Bunny’s connection to Frank Moses and explains that Moses is responsible for the Russian murders. As the scene is processed, Ian appears distracted, repeatedly checking his watch. He tells his partner, Stevie, that he needs to leave soon because he has to take his cat to the vet for a shot.

That same morning, Kyle’s wife, Tracy, wakes to her car alarm blaring. She throws on clothes, grabs her keys, and heads outside, finding the car door wide open. After closing it and scanning the quiet street, she goes back inside. Once inside, she discovers the kitchen window half open. Nervous, she searches the house with her baby in her arms.

Mike later meets with Bunny and Frank to discuss the cartel incident. Frank insists he will handle the situation. Bunny identifies the source of the conflict inside the prison, and they agree to have Bunny’s contacts attempt to negotiate a peace.

Inside the prison, Kyle continues to suffer through Callahan’s version of counseling. Callahan quietly passes Kyle a mirror. Cindy witnesses the exchange, makes a mental note, and heads off to help transfer an inmate. CO Breen hands over the inmate and tries to coax her into taking a smoke break. She declines, saying she is trying to quit, and returns to work.

Mike arrives at Tracy’s house, inspects the property, and finds nothing. He tells her it was probably a kid trying to steal a catalytic converter. He urges her to leave town for a few days, but she refuses. Mike calls Ian and asks him to place a patrol car outside the house. Ian agrees and then drops a cinder block off a bridge onto Evelyn’s windshield, sending her crashing into a wall.

During yard time, Warden Hobbs quietly approaches Callahan. She tells him she knows he has been helping Kyle. She instructs him to continue and promises to keep him in segregation rather than send him to the infirmary. He agrees. Cindy spots Hobbs walking away from Callahan.

Mike visits Evelyn in the hospital. She insists the brick was probably thrown by local kids and vows to track them down. Mike stops her and reminds her how deep she is in the case and how many enemies she has made. Evelyn then reveals that she has a witness.

After leaving the hospital, Mike calls Ian to set up a meeting with Robert. When they all convene, Mike accuses Robert of targeting Evelyn. Robert presents an airtight alibi and swears he had nothing to do with it. Mike believes him and lets him go. He then asks Ian if he knew Evelyn had a witness and whether he dropped the brick to protect himself. Ian lies and denies any involvement.

Inside the prison, Raphael approaches Keno and asks to team back up to keep the peace. Keno refuses and says they are no longer working together. Moments later, Raphael and an accomplice attack Keno and his second in command on the yard, stabbing one and nearly stabbing Keno.

Mike calls Kevin and learns that Kevin has been conducting intensive cell inspections of the Crips while the Colombians are being left alone. Kevin mentions that Raphael is safe in the infirmary. Suspicious, Mike tells Bunny that the warden is being duplicitous and possibly corrupt. Bunny responds that Frank is bringing in more men to deal with the Colombians. Mike warns him he is playing with fire and urges him to get out while he still can.

At the end of the episode, Kevin witnesses the deputy warden overseeing drugs being smuggled into the facility through fuel trucks. Kevin calls Mike and reveals that Deputy Warden Torres is the inside man for the Colombians. Meanwhile, Ian confesses to Stevie that he dropped the brick on Evelyn in an attempt to scare her off the case.

That night, Cindy calls Mike after getting home from work. She gives him the list of inmates in segregation. Mike snaps when she tells him that Callahan is in segregation and in the cell beside Kyle.

Closing Thoughts

As the war heats up, will Bunny get caught up in Frank Moses’ reach for power? Can Mike protect his brother from Callahan and the warden? Can Mike convince Evelyn to stop and save her?
