Over thirty years after introducing the world to the fictional African country of Zamunda, Eddie Murphy and crew are getting ready for the long-awaited sequel, Coming 2 America.
Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, newly-crowned King Akeem (Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.
Coming 2 America is directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan), with a screenplay by Kenya Barris (Black*ish) and Barry W. Blaustein & David Sheffield from a story by Blaustein, Sheffield, and Justin Kanew. Moving from Wakanda to Zamunda is Oscar-winning Costume Designer Ruth E. Carter who will provide the costumes for the sequel.
The film stars Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, KiKi Layne, Shari Headley, with Wesley Snipes and James Earl Jones. Additional cast members include John Amos, Teyana Taylor, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Paul Bates, Nomzamo Mbatha, Bella Murphy
Coming 2 America opens on March 5, 2021, distributed by Amazon Studios.
