Active for eight decades, Dee was an award-winning actress who was the recipient of Grammy, Emmy, Obie, Drama Desk, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Awards as well as the National Medal of Arts and the Kennedy Center Honors.
We’ll discuss her films and her activism, where she befriended both Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, and the role she played in the 1960s fighting for civil rights and equality for all.
