Things come to a head as the whole world seemingly comes crashing down on Russ in the season-ending episode of Chad Powers.
The episode opens in the immediate aftermath of Coach Hudson’s shocking heart attack announcement. Panicked, Ricky frantically dials 9-1-1, only to be met with an automated message. With precious time slipping away and no help on the way, she fears the worst as she realizes they have no vehicle since Coach had hurled his keys into the lake after discovering his wife’s affair with Russ Holliday in his flashy Cybertruck.
In a desperate act, Chad bolts into the woods and returns with the very same Cybertruck, his secret all but exposed. Ricky’s eyes narrow with suspicion, but she’s too focused on saving her father to question further. Together, they load Coach Hudson into the truck, and Chad speeds toward the hospital.
On the drive, Chad offers a clumsy, half-baked excuse that the Cybertruck belongs to Danny. Ricky doesn’t buy a word of it. At the hospital, she rushes her father inside and orders Chad to leave.
The next day at practice, the assistant coaches inform the team that Coach Hudson is stable and recovering. Meanwhile, Ricky corners Chad in the locker room. With quiet fury, she confronts him, showing she knows Chad is actually Russ Holliday. Her ultimatum is clear: stay away from the team. Defeated and exposed, Russ leaves.
Reeling and directionless, Russ turns to Danny, who convinces him to visit his father, Mike (Toby Huss), on a film shoot in Atlanta. There, Russ confesses everything. Instead of anger, Mike shows unexpected pride in his son’s effort and creativity, traits he’s rarely seen in Russ before. Forgiving him for stealing his gear, Mike urges Russ to make things right with Ricky.
Determined, Russ and Danny drive to Athens, where South Florida is preparing to face Georgia. Disguised once more as Chad, Russ meets Ricky on the team bus. But she’s not ready to forgive. She warns him to disappear for good or she’ll expose him. Calmly, Russ reminds her how devastating that revelation would be for everyone involved. Reluctantly, Ricky concedes and allows him to stay, for now.
As word spreads of Chad’s return, the team erupts in excitement. Energy surges through the locker room as they take the field, unified and confident. In the final shot, Chad scans the stadium with a faint, knowing smile, ready to rejoin the game, both on and off the field.
By season’s end, Chad seems to have regained some balance in his chaotic life. Yet beneath the surface, the tension between him and Ricky simmers, leaving one haunting question: how long can this charade last before everything comes crashing down?
Chad Powers – Sixth Quarter (season 1 episode 6) can be seen on Hulu now. A second season of the show has yet to be greenlit.
