Shooting began yesterday in NYC on the new Chris Rock dramedy, Finally Famous. Photographers were on the scene and we have some images from the set, courtesy of our colleagues at Shadow and Act.
In the film, Rock plays a comedian turned film star who, despite the expectations of his millions of fans, is determined to reinvent himself as a “serious” actor.
In addition to Rock, who also wrote and directs the film, he has employed two of Hollywood’s most attractive and talented actors, Rosario Dawson and Gabrielle Union, who will co-star. Also in the film are his Real Husbands of Hollywood co-stars Kevin Hart, along with J.B. Smoove, as well as Sherri Shepherd.
Rock’s character is described as a “feisty, funny, no-holds-barred journalist,” while Hart plays Rock’s supportive Ivy League-educated agent; Smoove is Rock’s “security guard-slash-assistant” who is never far from his boss’ side (in the casting breakdown the character is described as: “a burly, very big and imposing African-American guy who has a thing for big women”); and Shepherd plays Rock’s ex-girlfriend from high school who still has a thing for him.
This is not the first time that Rock has been sandwiched between two beautiful women. In his last directorial effort, I Think I Love My Wife, Rock co-starred with Gina Torres and Kerry Washington and starred opposite Tamala Jones and Robin Givens in Head of State.
Chris, we’re not mad at you and trust us, WE UNDERSTAND!!!
