The latest trailer for the next installment of The Divergent Series: Allegiant has been released. As The Hunger Games franchise is wrapping up, will Divergent fill the void for the YA (Young Adult) audience?
In the new trailer, which begins where Insurgent ends, Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) escape the wall around Chicago, finding themselves in a dangerous and highly advanced society that has been monitoring them the whole time. Faced with the looming death of their friends and enemies alike, Tris and Four must now decide who they can trust as a battle threatens all of humanity.
Following the path blazed by Harry Potter and The Hunger Games, Allegiant is part one of a two-part finale, based on just the first half of the book of the same name. The follow-up, entitled Ascendant, adapts the second half and is due in 2017.
In addition to Woodley and James, Allegiant stars Jeff Daniels, Octavia Spencer, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort and Ray Stevenson, among others. Robert Schwentke directs from a script by Noah Oppenheim, Adam Cooper, Bill Collage, and Stephen Chbosky.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant opens in theaters March 18, 2016.
