The trailer for the updated version of Rear Window, Panic has been released and something tells me that Alfred Hitchcock himself would be proud with how well his concept has been adapted by director Sean Spencer.
British actor David Gyasi stars in the film as a music journalist, Andrew Deeley, who lives in a high-rise tower block, cut off from the world, psychologically scarred after a vicious attack. He becomes infatuated with one his neighbors, Kem, a beautiful young Chinese woman. When Amy, a married woman he meets online, witnesses Kem’s kidnapping, Deeley is left with no choice but to try and find Kem himself. Armed with only an Oyster card and a hammer, Deeley has to navigate the criminal underworld as he fights to save Kem.
For the uninitiated, an Oyster card is similar to either a Metro card in a major metropolitan area that gives you access to a train or bus.
Gyasi was most recently seen on the CW viral outbreak series Containment, which was canceled after one season. He’s also scheduled for a sci-fi thriller, Annihilation, which stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Oscar Isaac. Pippa Nixon, Jason Wong, and Yennis Cheung round out the film’s cast.
According to the last Facebook page fan update, Panic is still traveling the film festival circuit, so an official commercial release may still be in its future.
