Coming this September is the promising new debut of writer/director Justin Tipping’s coming-of-age indie story, Kicks. Clearly, Tipping’s skill is not all about the shoes!
The film tells the story of a teen from the Bay Area whose favorite pair of shoes get stolen and he decides to embark on a mission to retrieve them. Newcomer Jahking Guillory stars as Brandon, the teen who leads the mission, with a cast including Christopher Jordan Wallace, Christopher Meyer, Queen Sugar‘s Kofi Siriboe, Mahershala Ali and Molly Shaiken.
Kicks initially premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, where it won Best Cinematography. The trailer looks really good and I’m waiting to see this fresh new voice’s vision.
Kicks opens in theaters on September 9, 2016. Check out the trailer and the poster, below.
