One of my five favorites from Sundance is this simple, yet effective thriller about a punk rock band that is held hostage and discovers that the only way to freedom is the fight their way through a group of White supremacists in the deliciously evil story, Green Room.
The follow-up to writer/director Jeremy Saulnier’s scintillating debut, Blue Ruin, comes this story which focuses on a band straying into a secluded part of the Pacific Northwest, who stumble upon a horrific act of violence. Because they are the only witnesses, they become the targets of a terrifying gang of white power skinheads who want to make sure all the evidence is eliminated.
The second film in Saulnier’s “Colors Trilogy,” (our name, not his) Green Room is a white-knuckle siege film, set in one of the scariest environments imaginable with Patrick Stewart in an instantly iconic role as an uber-cool and terrifying villain.
Green Room opens in NY/LA on April 15 and nationwide on April 29.
