After 25 years of success as one of the greatest lyricist in hip-hop, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and becoming a Hollywood triple threat, Ice Cube STILL has his edge according the trailer for his upcoming film, Fist Fight.
The film is set on the last school day of the year, when a mild-mannered English teacher (Charlie Day) already dealing with the stress of budget cuts and student pranks runs afoul of his much tougher and highly feared colleague (Cube) and is challenged to a fist fight after school. As word spreads the beef goes viral and ends up being the thing the school, and the English teacher, need.
Of course, the thought of Cube knuckling up with Day seems like a mismatch. Cube is in a no win situation as the expectation is that he should easily beatdown the over-matched Day or be ridiculed if he fails to come through as expected. Either way, it should make for interesting comedy to see what type of hand-to-hand skills ‘Amerikka’s Most Wanted’ has.
Directed by Richie Keen (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia) and written by Van Robichaux and Evan Susser. Rounding the cast are Tracy Morgan, Jillian Bell, Dean Norris, Christina Hendricks, Dennis Haysbert, and JoAnna Garcia Swisher.
Fist Fight opens in theaters on February 18.
