We continue our countdown of the best films of the year. Up next is one of the most competitive categories – the foreign language films. With a record 76 countries submitting films for Oscar consideration, there are no shortage of amazing cinema represented around the globe.

In addition to the strong field of Oscar contenders, there was also a strong group of additional foreign-language films that were released in theaters during the year. The end result is one of the most diverse and interesting slate of foreign-language films that entered our shores and cinematic consciousness in a very long time.
