Writer/director Ava DuVernay sat down with The Wrap while at the Sundance Film Festival to talk about the issue of diversity and her feelings on being “snubbed” at the Oscars.
DuVernay, who is a member of the Sundance Institute Board, talked about how the festival has led the change in introducing fresh faces into the industry and how that has evolved since her days as a publicist.
She also talks about some of her favorite films at the fest (hint, Dope) and of course Selma gets discussed. DuVernay has handled the Oscar controversy with dignity and grace and she will be rewarded in the long-term for her optimistic and positive outlook.
