Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater’s follow-up to Boyhood tells the story of a group of fun-loving college baseball players at a 1980’s Texas college in the hilarious comedy, Everybody Wants Some!!
The film focuses on college freshman (Blake Jenner) and his awkward meeting with his new baseball teammates, who are an unruly group of disco-dancing, skirt-chasing partyers, several days before the start of school. Described as the spiritual sequel to his 1993 cult classic, Dazed and Confused, his latest is a raucous celebration of sophomoric hijinks, alcohol, weed and women from a group of over-stimulated jocks.
Told through the prism of Jenner, the film focuses on 72 hours of fun with his eclectic group of teammates, while pursuing the love of an attractive art major, Beverly (Zoey Deutch). In typical Linklater fashion, his stories are often simple, philosophical and highly intimate Texas stories and this film is right in his cinematic wheelhouse.
A 21st century Animal House, Everybody Wants Some is a movie that will put a smile on the face of those who live through or remember the times while providing enough entertainment for the uninitiated.
