Adrift is loosely based on the true story of two avid sailors, Tami Oldham and Richard Sharp, who set out on a journey across the ocean in 1983 and sailed directly into a hurricane. In the aftermath of the storm, Tami awakens to find Richard badly injured and their boat in ruins, and has to find a way to save them both.
produced and directed by Baltasar Kormákur and written by David Branson Smith, Aaron Kandell, and Jordan Kandell. Based on a true story and set in 1983, the film stars Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin as a young couple that gets stranded in the middle of the Pacific Ocean during a hurricane and must find their way to Hawaii with a damaged ship and no radio.
