A disconnected loner finds her life’s purpose when she is teamed with an unlikely companion in the emotional military drama, Megan Leavey.
Aimlessly drifting through life, Leavey (Kate Mara) is assigned to a punishment detail cleaning up after dogs after a night of partying gone too far. Once there, she encounters a difficult canine, Rex, that initially gives her a hard time but then the two become inseparable.
The two see combat and are both injured in battle sealing their lifetime bond as Leavey fights to stay together with her closest companion.
Mara gives an effective performance in this film from the documentary filmmaker, Gabriela Cowperthwaite (Blackfish) in a film that would have been better-served opening over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
