Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs Review - FilmGordon Radio

Unispired sequel to the popular 2009 film, finds inventor Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) dealing with the fallout of his invention, the Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator” (FLDSMDFR for short) and the destruction of his community, Flint is tricked into accepting a job working for his childhood idol, Chester V (Will Forte) – only to discover that he has a secret agenda to steal his invention for his own personal use.

Featuring a huge collection of food hybrids, cheesy (no pun attended) jokes and an unimaginative story, the filmmakers are trying to mine the territory of the original film, which grossed over $240 million worldwide, while expanding their food and family base. For this critic, the film felt like the food pyramid had exploded and ultimately it was just a big, gooey cinematic mess. Not one of the year’s strongest animated efforts but the kids will probably find it fun!
