Trailer Park | Glass

by Tim Gordon

The first trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural trilogy, Glass debuted at Comic-Con over the weekend. Almost two decades after Unbreakable, this latest combines characters from last year’s Split, the surprise sequel to his 2000 film.

In the latest film, it all culminates when following the conclusion of Split, David Dunn pursues Kevin Wendell Crumb’s superhuman persona of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters while the shadowy presence of Elijah Price, going by “Mr. Glass”, emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

Written, co-produced and directed by Shyamalan, the film is intended to be the third and final installment in the Unbreakable series, which includes Unbreakable and Split. Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson will be reprising their Unbreakable roles, while James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy will be returning as their Split characters, along with Sarah Paulson joining the cast.

During his appearance at Comic-Con, Shyamalan explained that Glass is perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime movie in that Disney’s arm, Buena Vista International, which owns the rights to Unbreakable, and Split studio Universal, agreed to team up for the film.

“I don’t think this will ever happen again, where two studios had two IPs they completely owned, and I said, ‘Can we make a sequel to both and you guys share it?’ and they said yes,” said Shyamalan.

Glass opens on Jan. 18, 2019.
