Miller’s Lost Woman Wonder Photos

megan galeAs we countdown for the March release of the highly anticipated blockbuster film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it’s time to take a look back at what could have been with if visionary director George Miller had an opportunity to share his vision.

Fans have been waiting for 75 years for Wonder Woman to get her debut on the silver screen. Finally, this March Wonder Woman will hit the screen with Gai Gadot alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. But before Zack Snyder, before Man of Steel, and before interconnected cinematic universes there was George Miller.

In 2007, Miller was at on time on track to deliver DC’s superheroes in Justice League Mortals in 2009. Unfortunately, production was crippled by the Writer’s Strike and the project never recovered. Miller turned his attention to Fury Road and the rest is cinematic history.

Many people forget that while Marvel was assembling its cinematic universe, DC Comics had an opportunity to slow their momentum. Christopher Nolan was in the midst of his Batman trilogy and had it come to pass, Miller was set to deliver Justice League Mortals. The film would have starred Armie Hammer (Batman), D.J. Cotrona (Superman), Common (Green Lantern), Adam Brody (Flash), Santiago Cabrera (Aquaman), Hugh Keays-Byrne (Martian Manhunter), Jay Baruchel (Maxwell Lord), and Megan Gale (Wonder Woman).

Despite that film not moving forward, Miller cast the former Wonder Woman actress in his latest film, Mad Max Fury Road as The Valkyrie.

But back in 2007, Gale took some pre-production stills in Princess Diana’s iconic red, gold, and blue costume for Justice League Mortals. These photos had been in the possession of photographer Mark Rogers, who recently released them on his website in stunning high-definition.
