Fresh off her most recent role as The Black Widow in Captain America: Winter Soldier and her tantalizing performance in Her, Scarlett Johansson is back as an ass-kicking drug mule in the French superhero film, Lucy.
Set in a world that is run by the mob, street gangs, drug addicts, and corrupt cops, Lucy (Johansson) is a woman living in Taipei, Taiwan, who is forced to work as a drug mule for the mob. The drug implanted in her body inadvertently leaks into her system, changing her into a superhuman, due to accessing much more than the normal 10% of her brain capacity. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind, and cannot feel pain and other discomforts.
From the mind of Luc Besson, Lucy has the potential to be a high-wire, thrill-a-minute, roller-coaster ride that if executed properly could be one of the breakout sleepers of the summer.
Directed, written, edited, and co-produced by Besson, the film stars Johansson as the title character, along with Morgan Freeman.
Lucy opens in theaters on July 25, 2014.
