One of television’s best character actors, Michael K. Williams has been cast in the upcoming HBO biopic, Bessie.
According to sources, Williams will join a star-studded cast in the biopic of the iconic blues singer that has already cast Queen Latifah in the title role. Other members of the cast includes Oscar winner Mo’Nique, Khandi Alexander, Charles S. Dutton, Tika Sumpter, and Mike Epps.
Sources don’t indicate which role Williams will play in the film but speculation is that he will play Bessie’s abusive husband Jack Gee, describing it as “Ike Turner-esque.”
