Brown to Produce “Flyy Girl”

2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards - After PartyDear White People producer, Effie Brown has been tapped by Codeblack Films to produce the feature film adaptation of Omar Tyree’s bestselling book trilogy Flyy Girl.

Tyree’s story explores the journey of Tracey Ellison, a successful businesswoman and workaholic who believes that money is always the key to happiness. In the midst of her life journey, Ellison is forced to reinvent herself and rethink her relationships, her career and her definition of success.

Brown was one of the producers behind the 2014 Sundance darling Dear White People, as well as Real Women Have Curves and Rocket Science. Brown also recently joined the cast of HBO’s Project Greenlight reboot assuming the role of producer and mentor to the winner of the filmmaking competition. Industry vet Christina Sibul is also part of the development team.

Brown and her banner Duly Noted will oversee development and recruitment of the creative team alongside Codeblack’s Jeff Clanagan and Quincy Newell. Nicole Jefferson-Asher is on board to write the script.
